Ayaya was contracted by the Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) to provide event planning and logistical support for the first-of-a-kind Qimuksiqtiit Regional Gathering. Dog team operators from across the region gathered in Iqaluit. We were hired to help with design and printing of all materials, travel, accommodation and airport logistics, A/V and tech logistics, agenda development, support with set-up and tear down, on-site event management and liaison with venue and catering.

Participants from across the Qiqiktani region gather in Iqaluit after the successful conference.

Challenge: The biggest challenge was the logistics of flying in over 40 participants from 11 communities in Nunavut, and keeping track of cancellations and flight changes with new Covid-19 protocols put in place a week before the conference.

Outcome: A successful, well organized, first-of-a-kind Qimuksiqtiit Regional Gathering. The purpose of this gathering was to advance the findings and recommendations of the Qikiqtani Truth Commission through the delivery of Saimaqatigiiniq programs. The conference participants were overjoyed to be invited to participate and to be listened to by QIA, which received a full list of ideas to move forward.
